About Us – The EG Story
My name is Andries Lombaard, and this is the story behind EG Evolved Simulator Rigs.
What started in 2020, during the uncertainty of Covid-19, began as a small hobby business driven by passion. The original goal was simple — to provide affordable racing simulator rigs to the local South African sim racing community.
In the early days, we focused on wood-based rigs, building each unit by hand. While this allowed for customization, we quickly learned some important lessons. Manufacturing times were longer than expected, costs were rising, and most importantly — our clients wanted faster turnaround times and greater flexibility in how their rigs could be adjusted and configured.
This was a turning point.
We transitioned away from wood and began designing rigs using aluminium extrusion profiles. This shift changed everything. Suddenly, our products offered:
- Greater adjustability
- Modular configurations
- Faster production times
- A more premium and durable finish
At that moment, the business itself had evolved — and so did the name.
EG Custom Racing Simulators became EG Evolved Simulator Rigs.
From Local Builds to a Full Simulation Ecosystem
As we grew, it became clear that racing rigs alone were only part of the bigger picture. Sim racing is about the complete experience.
We took the next big step by introducing direct drive technology into the South African market, starting with MOZA Racing. This marked a major shift in the business, transforming us from a local builder into a full simulation solutions provider.
From there, we expanded rapidly, bringing in globally recognised brands such as:
- Simagic
- Next Level Racing
- Asetek
- OMP & Sparco (for immersive seating solutions)
- And more specialist brands like Alien Mods and Slip Angle
Today, EG Evolved Simulator Rigs proudly operates as a formal reseller of premium simulation hardware, offering a wide range of products to suit both enthusiasts and professionals.
Our vision continues to grow — with a focus on expanding our product portfolio and delivering high-quality, immersive simulation experiences across racing, flight, and training applications.
Where Does “EG” Come From?
A question we don’t get asked often — but one that tells a personal story.
“EG” comes from my old/current gamer tag: EishGamer.
Back in the day, I spent a lot of time playing first-person shooters and streaming on YouTube and Twitch. During those streams, I had a bit of a trademark — I’d be relaxing with my hubbly and a brandy and Coke.
The sound of ice clinking in the glass became something viewers picked up on.
People would often ask what I was drinking.
My answer?
“Brandy met eish.”
That phrase stuck — and over time, EishGamer became Part of a brand very well know today as EG Evolved Simulator Rigs.
What started as a gaming nickname eventually became the foundation of a brand that today represents innovation, evolution, and passion for simulation.
